MEDFEST 26.03.2013

COME ALONG TO THIS YEAR'S MEDFEST :) UK's only medical film festival :) It's for FREEEEEE and open to everyone, not only medical students ;) We will also provide free snacks, drinks and pizza throughout the evening.

WHERE? Suttie Centre

THEME: The Power of Medicine

The evening will be divided into 4 parts.

PART 1: Power of Medicine for the Patient

PART 2: Power of Medicine for the Doctor

PART 3: Power of Medicine for Society

PART 4: Food ;)

Scottish Mental Health ARTS & FILM FESTIVAL

The Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival is one of Scotland's most diverse cultural events, covering everything from music, film and visual art to theatre, dance, and literature.
The annual festival that is located in Aberdeen takes place between the 6th Oct to the 17th Oct 2012 in several different venues (see brochure).

I know for sure that I want to see some of those events and I hope you guys will join me :)

Blowing the Mind in the Media 2012 - British Science Festival

As part of the British Science Festival, SHRINK hosted this film screening and debate event.

We showed the movie "A beautiful mind", which is an Oscar winning film tackling what is often referred to as the last taboo in mental health. based on the life of John Nash, a Nobel prize winner, it explores his struggles with paranoid schizophrenia.

Following the film screening, a panel of medical and media professionals discussed the often difficult relationship between mental health and the media.

Speakers included Dr Bennett, Dr Pell and Dr Marcus.

MedFest 2012

SHRINK presented MedFest 2012 - Health Screening: Understanding Illness through film.

This even did not only explore the relationship between the media and perceptions of illness but also was UK's only Medical Film Festival.

Careers and Electives Night 2011

SHRINK presented a career and elective speed dating evening in November 2011.

"Are you interested in a career in Psychiatry? Are you curious in finding out more about electives in Psychiatry? Are you unsure about your future career plans?"

A charity pub quiz in aid of Aberdeen in Mind, a local charity who aim to provide information to local people and carers abouta  wide variety of mental health illnesses.
